CASE STUDY

Infographics – Live

The National Summit for Volunteer Engagement conference brought together nearly 500 people who manage volunteer programs for nonprofits or are involved in the study or promotion of volunteerism.

ORGANIZATION

Minnesota Association of Volunteer Administrators (MAVA)
Minneapolis, MN

MAVA provides support and resources to those who lead volunteers as well as those who have an interest in promoting volunteerism. The nonprofit worked with other leaders to design and implement a national conference.

Challenge

The conference included five breakout sessions across two days that focused on key strategic areas for the field.

Only a fraction of conference participants would attend each session, as there were many sessions at the same time. All participants, however, would be voting for which of the strategic areas they wanted MAVA and the conference steering committee to take forward to implement during the year.

Approach and Results

Live infographics (graphic recordings) for each session captured highlights of the speaker presentations and group discussion. Participants in the room could see the conversation develop and respond more thoroughly to what had been covered.

At then of each session, the team posted the charts in the plenary room. That enabled all attendees to review what each session addressed. At the conclusion of the conference, they voted on priorities.

Note: Smaller chart than usual due to facilities limitations.
